Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress, and songwriter for many years. Sara Ramirez was raised by an American mother, and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts and made her feel unwelcome. When she went to an event at school and was given great praise for her performance when she was in the ninth grade the young girl started to gain confidence. The event not only helped the confidence of her, but also altered her outlook on the future. In 1992, she earned her degree from New York's Julliard School. As she was turning 23 years old, she launched her career on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Then, at 23 years old, her movie debut was You've received mail. Her biggest break came with her performance as The Lady of The Lake, in the first Broadway adaptation of Spamalot. She won the Tony Award and received great appreciation for her role. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC the show, she received more appreciation. As a well-known singer, she has also recorded a song and a play. She's also an activist who is a tireless advocate for LGBT rights.
